I’m watching the latest Paranormal Activities movie, good reason why I can’t write but still.  I just don’t have any energy to write.  I’m going to have to force myself to write.  I’m writing this post just to free write something.  Paranormal Activity 4 is a very interesting return to the original intention of the franchise.  My opinion, of course but I find the setting within the Latino community very interesting.  It adds to the mythology of these movies.  They also add a lot more supernatural events.  The characters are played very well by unknowns.  It’s back to “what the hell is going to happen?”

To other stuff… what about a story mixing monsters and supernatural horror like Paranormal Activity.

Hmmm.. a new twist.. someone took the main character..

I know this is all over the place but I need to write something.. been watching Helix.  Completed the first season.  Very good series about CDC scientist trying to fix extreme sci fi infections.. I think these days are excellent for fans of sci fi.

They are approaching a thin, white door.  The camera light fails as they walk in.  Inside the room is a fake head and some covered appliances.  They are searching for their brother in an old house.  Currently looking inside a horse stall.  Yikes.. crazy witches.. lol

They are inside the house with the witches outside staring.. looks like a goat head inside a pentagram.  They are looking at a window intensely till someone bangs on it.  Marisol is missing…

Oops.. she fell from the ceiling now Hector is running around the house screaming.  This would be intensely frightening if I was in this house.  All sorts of crazy things going on.. He’s opening the door… everything is quiet…

Till Jesse shows up and chases him.. yikes

Wow.. he broke down the door.. now Hector runs through a door and he is in the original Paranormal Activity house..

Scary zombie woman walking around.. ok.. he’s dead..

    Nice..

    The Travelers

A Christmas Story from Juliette Kings

The night was falling on the travelers, Daniel and his son Tad and daughter Ada. They had to stop before the nightfall and freezing snowfalls. They were finally going home from the dreams of gold to the city where Daniel had found a job in his profession of typesetter and reporter. When his wife had passed on he followed his dream to the California gold fields taking his teenage children with him.

They came upon a cabin, the door boarded up from the outside, the windows shuttered. It looked deserted and like shelter for the night. Dan and his son pried the nails off of the boards, which secured the door and went into the two-room structure. Inside was a cozy room with a fireplace, comfortable chairs and a wall full of books. Dan sent Tad out to bring in firewood.

    Ada…

Red Dress, White Trim, A Dancing Ghost and the Quiet Musings of a Vampire Mom

I can imagine the reality that is Vampire Maman. This blog is a treasure

Red Dress, White Trim, A Dancing Ghost and the Quiet Musings of a Vampire Mom

She was a shining light in the forest, not a ghost who haunts but a ghost who dances to her own music.

I watched from my window as Mary danced in the woods. She wore not clothing of the 15th century when she lived, but a red mini dress with white fur trim on the hem and bell shaped sleeves. A long Santa had was on her head with a fluffy white ball at the tip. Bells adorned the top of her white over-the-knee boots. Her red-brown hair was braided with gold ribbon. When you’re a ghost you can wear what you want, do what you want, dance and love when you want.

That is if you don’t let your own ghosts get in the way. That was Mary.

    Had it been any other…

  • Why Don’t Zombies Eat Each Other?

Why Don’t Zombies Eat Each Other?

    Jack Flacco's avatarLooking to God

Everyone has their ideas of why zombies do the things they do. Why do zombies eat brains? Why do zombies from forty years ago lurch while today’s undead sprint toward their victims? Do zombies ever have to go to the bathroom?

The human brain. The human brain.

I’m dedicating today’s Monday Mayhem post to the ultimate question: Why don’t zombies eat each other?

To answer this question I’m going to speculate, hypothesize, and take a few wild guesses. I’m sure everyone has an opinion, but how scientific are unsubstantiated opinions? Does science have an answer? I’m totally going to throw a dart with the hope it sticks and makes sense. Let’s see how far I get.

    This is my theory.

Whether folks are talking about zombies bred by a curse, a virus or a freakish experiment gone wrong, the undead know only one thing—to eat. I’ve mentioned this before in the context…

    Zombie Apocalypse: The Aftermath

    Good thoughts here.

    Jack Flacco's avatarLooking to God

I haven’t read many zombie books to know for certain, but I know my movies, and I would have to say I haven’t seen this issue explored—what would society be like after a zombie apocalypse? Zombie movies typically concentrate on the time when the undead take over the world. But, what of the aftermath? Society would need rebuilding.

Today’s Monday Mayhem will explore what would society need to do to rise from the ashes of a zombie apocalypse. Of course this is all speculation, and for the most part, for entertainment value. However, I will assume some truth lies therein, and I’m rather opposed to revealing what that truth is. I’m sure you’ll figure it out—eventually.

First thing on the agenda? What to do with all the bodies of the undead…

A Visit from The Ghost (or I never knew there were really Vampires until I died)

I love your stories Juliette. Reblogged!

This morning, before the sun came up, I was thinking about a friend of mine from years ago. I wasn’t thinking about anything specific except about the way we keep memories of those who are gone. He had blonde hair and green eyes and a smile that wouldn’t quit. He left no dark ghost of fear except the one I used to keep in my heart for a while. Then I thought of someone I lost this week last year – another blonde and an angel on earth who should still be here. It is too soon to think otherwise. So I count the years and think of things we wanted to say. At first we ask questions and wonder what if, then we stop wondering. I turned to the sound of a voice.

    “I died today. Weird.”

It would have seemed weird coming from most people but this was from a…

  • Regarding Wilford Grimly

Let’s test my story-telling prose.. 🙂  I have 10 min before lunch is over.

This was told to me from Will at one point in our many recent conversations.

Each family has an enforcer and they enforcer has favorite methods.  For the Dart family that enforcer is Aborth, a powerful wizard.

Aborth, tends to use dogs.  Large magic creations that are bond only to Aborth.

The Grimly family has long been a sword-point for the Dart organization.  They have long tried to extinguish any existence of the family.  There for many members of the Grimly family have changed there names.  Once such family is the Dutch family.

Alfred Dutch is a shop-owner, along with his wife and four children.  Through an investigation from whatever methods the Dart family felt necessary the Dutch family was deemed dangerous and was initially pressured using extortion and oppression but soon Alfred’s older son Thomas became enraged and lashed out at three grubbers send from the family. Aborth, sent out the dogs to destroy the family.

Will was aware of the contract and stood ready for the attack.  Three Death Dogs, thin, bony creatures that snarled viciously as they stepped from a portal near the corner of the Dutch store.  The dogs appeared suddenly, causing the family to panic.  The youngest son fell first then the mother.  Will fought valiantly and defeated the creatures but not before being pushed out a glass front window and into the street.  Will wrestled the last dog till killing it with a dagger that had fallen on the floor.  Alfred attempted to compensate Will for the defeat of the dogs but Will refused.  Will additionally petitioned for a protection spell from one of the Dart elders.  Will has several connections within the family.

  • Dream – Why do monsters cross the Road?

I daydream on occasion about a group of monsters that cross the road when I drive.

    These are not normal monsters.

    These are not violent monsters.

These monsters browse within the fields with the deer.  They are imaginary but intensely interesting.

Their bodies are translucent.  For the most part they appear to be buffalo.

A thick strip of fur and skin circles the fat creature.  It lines the abdomen, encircles the neck and follows the chest and belly.

Within the translucent body the organs wiggle and jolt as the creature moves and leaps across the asphalt.

The creatures head is non-existent.  How that works I don’t know but it just is.

  • Gabriel (Remaining at The City of Zombies wordpress blog)

The vampire stepped into the early October afternoon air.  The sun was high, the air brisk. The several vampire peeled off and attacked the zombie milling around attempting to make a meal out of them.  Kali walked slowly, fighting every step.  A tall vampire with pale skin and a facial scar struggled to push her forward and not break her.  The vampire seemed determined to capture her.  He watched the zombie with a hungry eye.  The high he built up earlier fell and he needed a boost.  The human in his hands would help but that would only last so long.  The zombie venom burned within him.  It smoked the angry parasite living within him.  I allowed happiness to leak into a hard shell for moments.  Kali pulled hard, her backpack ripped open and fell.  Upon the ground fell a dark shadow-less stone.  It stopped the vampire immediately and gave an opportunity opening to a zombie a vampire on his left.  The zombie tackled the vampire and they fell toward Kali and the taller vampire.  They fell over the backpack and the stone.  The zombie bit into the vampire’s arm causing him to scream.  The vampire punched the zombie with his free hand.  The zombie released his hand but only to get a better grip.  Both monsters wrestled upon the ground.  The vampire’s wings flailing.  The other vampire walked around the battle.  They dropped the zombies they had pulled aside and leaped into the house then into the sky.  The tall, pale, vampire circled around the fight attempting to grab the black shadow-less stone.  The vampire on the ground unintentionally blocked his attempts with his wings.  Shouts of frustration as he tried again and again to grab the stone.  Kali backed away too frightened to move too far away.  The zombie surrounding them had thinned to only a few.  The Haitian burst through the house door and growled.  The pale vampire growled back.  He then returned to the stone.  Kali watched as the Haitian walked closer.  Suddenly, Erik appears from the back yard, confusion upon his face.  A large bird-like creature sweeps over his head and he falls to the ground.  The bird-like creature lands upon the wrestling match and slides a large claw into the back to the zombies neck.  He kicks the zombie over and crushed the vampire’s neck.

“Gabriel, we found the stone,”  the pale vampire’s voice shook as he spoke.  Gabriel smiled, his face and chest human.  He looked at Kali then back at the pale vampire.  “Get the stone.  We are taking the girl.”

“Yes, sir.”  The pale vampire searched desperately for the stone then grabbed it.  He quickly placed it within his pocket then leaped upon the house and disappeared.

Kali stepped backward away from the large bird man.  The Haitian inched closer as Erik shouted but the bird man quickly snatched up the young girl and picked her off the ground.  Quickly, they disappeared toward the center of the city.

“God damn it!”  Erik shouted.  “Why can’t I protect that girl?”

“Brother, you are not alone,” the Haitian said as he watched Gabriel disappear within the corroded hole of the tallest building in Ransom.  “I will go with you and we will find Kali.”

“Damn right, we will.”  Erik swung an ax wildly at an zombie that crept toward them.  He partially decapitated the zombie causing it to fall.  “Damn it.”
